Ram Mandir Ayodhya

Ram Mandir : claim of opposition

Before 1940's, the babri masjid was called masjid-i-janmasthan ("mosque of birthplace"), including in the official records also shykh Muhammad azamat Ali kakorwi nami (1811-1893) wrote."the babri masjid was built up in 923 A.H. under the protection of sayyid Musa ashiqan in the janmasthan temple in Faizabad-avadh, which was the birthplace of Rama". H.R. Neville, the editor of Faizabad district gazetter (1870), wrote that "babur destroyed the temple and made mosque". He also wrote "the janmasthan was in ramkort and birthplace of rama. In 1528 A.D. babur came to Ayodhya and visit approximate 1 week, in this time he destroyed temple and made mosque".

A section of historians, such as R.S. sharma, state that such claims of babri masjid site being the birth place of Rama is introduced after 18th century. R.S.sharma says, the Ayodhya is mentioned as a pilgrimage only in medival time not in ancient times. For example, chapter 52 places of pilgrimage and 85 of the Vishnu smriti lists not mentioned Ayodhya as a pilgrim, also a ramcharitmanas introduced by tulsidas as in 1574 not mentioned Ayodhya as a pilgrimage. But here Mr. R.S. sharma distracted his path. "That in not a subject to  find out Ayodhya is pilgrimage in ancient time or not , but the question is ram Mandir or ram temple is demolished by babur or not".

Many critics also claim that the presentday Ayodhya was originally a Buddhist site,
based on its identification with Saketa
described in Buddhist texts. According to
historian Romila Thapar, ignoring the
Hindu mythological accounts, the first
historic mention of the city dates back to
the 7th century, when the Chinese pilgrim
Xuanzang described it as a Buddhism site.
